Imprimis I also order and Will that my well beloved Wife Mary shall keep entire possession of Dwelling Plantation, until my youngest Son is of Age. Imprimis I do also nominate and appoint Joest Runkle and Daniel Zacharias Executors of this Will and Testament hereby revoking all former Will or Wills by me heretofore made.4 In witness whereof I have hereunto set my hand and Seal this first Day of November seventeen hundred and sixty-one.
(Original signed in German) Johann Diel Bohn (seal)5
Witnesses: Michael Moyer, Peter Moyer.6 1 This transcript and the notes here are from Whedon, p. 6. 2 Nicholas sold No Whiskey and his part of Shear Spring on 18 March 1783 [p. 2] 3 Jacob sold his land (Shear Spring and Boon’s Content) on 18 September 1777 [p. 2] 4 For reasons not documented, neither man served as executor. Johann’s son Nicholas administered the will [p. 2] 5 The will was signed by Johann, in a signature that matches the one on the 1741 Oath of Allegiance; the will was written out by someone who gave Johann’s name as “Han Deall Bone.” The “Bone” spelling was entered into the Frederick County Will Book, so researchers overlooked the will for a number of years. [p. 6] 6 A notation on the back of the will indicates that it was “proved by P. Myers, and the other [witness] was dead 5th of April 1764” [p. 2] |

| Notes |
- Nicholas Boone was born in Germany. (He had to be "naturalized" in 1765.) Various documents (e.g., Abraham Boone's will) refer to Nicholas as the half-brother of the other Boone boys. Since Johann married Anna Maria fairly soon after his 1741 arrival on the Marlborough, it is speculated that Johann's first wife--Nicholas's mother--may have died in Germany, so that Johann was a widower with one young son when he arrived in Philadelphia.
